Day 1:
Journey to Hampshire - After local pick-ups, we make our way south to Hampshire, with regular comfort stops along the route. On arrival at the Solent Hotel in the late afternoon, you'll have time to relax, settle in, and perhaps enjoy a stroll before dinner.
Day 2:
D-Day Heritage & Fort Nelson - This morning, meet your local guide, who will bring the area's rich history to life. Begin with a visit to the D-Day Story Museum, which tells the moving story of liberation in Europe.
Later, enjoy free time in the historic village of Southwick, steeped in its own D-Day heritage. Perhaps stop for lunch in one of the welcoming local pubs before continuing the day's journey.
In the afternoon, visit Fort Nelson, a Victorian fortress overlooking Portsmouth Harbour. Explore 19 acres of ramparts and tunnels filled with artillery from around the world - a fascinating experience for history enthusiasts.
Day 3:
Hovercraft to Ryde & Isle of Wight Exploration - Today, enjoy a unique journey across the Solent aboard the world's only year-round passenger hovercraft service. The thrilling ride takes you from Southsea to the charming resort town of Ryde on the Isle of Wight.
Once there, enjoy free time to explore this delightful seaside town. You might visit the quirky Donald McGill 'Naughty Postcard' Museum, browse independent shops and cafés, or simply enjoy the traditional seafront attractions at your leisure.
Day 4:
Portsmouth Historic Dockyard or Spinnaker Tower - After a leisurely breakfast, we travel to the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard(tickets not included) for a full day of maritime discovery. Explore iconic ships such as HMS Victory and HMS Warrior, uncover the story of the Mary Rose, and immerse yourself in the Royal Navy's heritage through world-class exhibitions and interactive displays.
Alternatively, you may choose to visit the Spinnaker Tower for breathtaking panoramic views across the Solent, or spend time at Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth's stylish waterfront shopping and dining destination.
Day 5:
Winchester & Homeward Bound - This morning, we begin our journey home, stopping in the historic city of Winchester. Enjoy time to explore its charming streets, admire the magnificent cathedral, or relax over lunch.
We then continue our journey, arriving back in the local area by late afternoon, bringing our south coast adventure to a close with lasting memories of maritime history and coastal charm.
