A Proud History Since 1927.

 

D & H Harrod Coaches Ltd was founded in 1927 by Mr. Herman Harrod, beginning with just a single vehicle and a strong commitment to serving the local community.

 

In those early years, the company provided transport to darts and dominoes matches, church outings, and group excursions to London — laying the foundations for what would become a trusted family business spanning generations.

 

Following Herman’s passing in 1965, the business entered a remarkable new chapter under the leadership of his wife, Dolly Harrod. At a time when female coach drivers were extremely rare, Dolly quite literally took the driver’s seat, learning to drive and running the business herself. Her determination and dedication saw the company grow steadily, expanding the fleet to eight coaches before her retirement in the 1990s. Her contribution remains a proud and defining part of the Harrod legacy.

 

Throughout the decades, Harrods Coaches has continued to evolve, embracing innovation while remaining true to its roots. From the distinctive “fish bowl” window designs of early vintage coaches to today’s modern, comfortable fleet, the company has always adapted to meet changing passenger expectations. In tribute to this rich heritage, we are proud to include a Bedford Bella Vega vintage coach in our fleet — a beautifully preserved vehicle that celebrates our history while delighting passengers and wedding couples alike.
