A Proud History Since 1927.

 

D & H Harrod Coaches was founded by Mr. Herman Harrod in 1927. In its early days, the business operated with just a single vehicle, offering trips to darts and dominoes matches, church outings, and group excursions to London.

 

When Herman passed away in 1965, his wife Dolly Harrod stepped into the driver’s seat — literally. One of only a handful of female coach drivers in Norfolk at the time, Dolly learned to drive and took over the business. Under her leadership, the fleet grew to eight coaches before she retired in the 1990s.

 

Over the decades, Harrods Coaches has embraced innovation while staying true to its roots. From the distinctive fish bowl-window designs of vintage models to today’s sleek, modern vehicles, our fleet has evolved with the times. And in a nod to our rich heritage, we’ve welcomed a Bedford Bella Vega vintage coach into our fleet — a beautiful blend of nostalgia and character.

Now based in Downham Market (since 2005), after many years in Wormegay, the business remains proudly run by the Harrod family. They continue to uphold the traditional values set by Herman and Dolly — honesty, reliability, and customer care — while using modern methods to deliver safe, comfortable, and efficient travel across the UK and Europe.
