We depart our local area and travel north to the ancient town of Richmond named after an area in Normandy and once home to a norman prince. The market square was once part of the castle enclosure, but now is home to many diverse retail outlets. After lunch we reconvene our journey north to our hotel near Bishop Auckland arriving with time to relax before dinner or enjoy the spa facilities.
After a hearty breakfast we depart our hotel for the short journey to Beamish Open Air Museum. The vision of Dr Frank Atkinson who realised the industrial heritage was fast disappearing and after visiting many Scandinavian folk museums made the decision to illustrate the way of life from region in the way of the collection. Enjoy the many different areas of the museum as well as taking a ride on the many vintage trams and buses available around the site. At the end of a memorable day we depart for the homeward journey. Stopping at regular intervals for your comfort and arriving back in our local area late evening.
