Hampshire – Steam, Gin & the New Forest


Day 1: After local pickups we make our way via the motorway network stopping in at Henley-on-Thames for lunch arriving at our hotel for the next 4 nights late afternoon.

Day 2: This morning we explore the historic streets of King Arthur’s ancient capital of England, Winchester. Visit the great Hall and King Arthur’s round table, a fully restored working water mill and Winchester cathedral, where Jane Austin is buried. After lunch we visit the Bombay Sapphire Distillery at Laverstoke Mill, based in a conservation area with over 1000 years of history. The distillery showcases the care, skill and artistry behind every drop of Bombay Sapphire, and allows you to discover the flavours of the botanicals which make this gin unique.

Day 3: After a leisurely breakfast we head to the historic medieval market town of Bishop’s Waltham, which was selected by the bishop’s from Winchester Cathedral as their palace in the 12th century. This afternoon we make the shorty journey across to Alresford a lovely Georgian town, for a nostalgic trip a the Mid-Hants Railway, also known as the Watercress Line, through to Alton

Day 4: For today’s excursion we head to the wonderfully scenic New Forest National Park, with its wild horses, picturesque towns & villages, idyllic glades and historic woodland. Included today we have entry to the National Motor Museum and all is attractions. We allow plenty of time to visit all the attractions but for heading back to the hotel late afternoon.

Day 5: After breakfast unfortunately we make our way home stopping at Banbury before arriving in our local area early evening.

The single room supplement is for the use of a twin/double for sole occupancy.

No triple bedrooms (ie 3 individual beds) are available.

The hotel has 6 disabled double-bedded rooms with wet-rooms available on request as well as 63 double-bedded rooms with walk-in showers.

The hotel’s designated ground floor bedrooms are not level with reception but accessed by a covered walkway and a lift. There is lift access (suitable for wheelchairs) which travels to all floors.
